MEET COURTNEY
Courtney Deane has a knack for turning the silver linings of tragedies into gold. A natural writer since she was six, Deane used the medium to work through the deaths of her parents, which occurred when she was 14 (Dad) and 28 (Mom). These events were the inspiration for this fictionalized book – and a topic Deane is so very familiar with: what happens when happily ever after fails.
Not one to let life goals pass her by, Deane has always pursued what was important to her, despite any obstacles. She left her wonderful bachelorette pad on the Las Vegas Strip in 2015 to move to San Diego in the hopes of finding her Mr. Deane and starting a family. Though she met him in the unlikely spot of Manhattan, the two were engaged when Deane was 35.
Starting a family brought its own challenges (in addition to a positive BRCA/breast cancer gene test result), but Deane and her husband jumped headfirst into that speedbump as well. The result is Teeny Deanie, who is two and obsessed with the Little Mermaid.
Though Deane will never stop chasing her dreams, she can confidently say she’s achieved her happily ever after – after many, many failures.
Deane holds Bachelors’ degrees in English and Sociology from UC Irvine, and a Master’s in broadcast journalism from USC. She’s also an avid Trojan fan. When Deane’s not writing fiction, she’s…still writing. Deane is a full-time freelance writer for print, digital and broadcast entities, and works with a variety of PR and marketing clients.
She now splits her time between Las Vegas and San Diego, where she resides with her husband, daughter and Doggie Deanie.
