My Hometown (Said All Springsteeny)
Fresh off the heels of the book’s hometown tour (Philly is its setting) comes my own hometown visit. I’ll be signing When Happily Ever After Fails at Barnes & Noble in Montclair Place – my old hometown mall – this Saturday, Aug. 10, from 1-3 p.m.
I grew up in Ontario. For non-locals, that’s about 20 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles. I had two blue-collar parents who worked extremely hard to buy a home and pay that thing off in record time.
The result years (and decades) after they’ve passed is a childhood home that is rented out to strangers. On the one hand, I’m very happy the home is still in the family. On the other, I do whatever I can to avoid this house.
