Tony Robbins was Right (& I Just Died a Little)
Humans are such a weird species. We tend to be all or nothing – and if it’s all, we want it all right now.
I’m no different. My mom used to say I viewed life as one big batch of instant coffee. She wasn’t wrong. I’m crazy impatient. On the flipside, however, I’m willing to work for whatever I want.
But that doesn’t mean the journey has been frustration free. Or fast. In fact, it’s been the opposite of both.
As I sit here, on the cusp of witnessing my first novel’s release into the world, I’m also marveling at what a process this has been.
That brings me to Tony Robbins. I haven’t drunk the TR Kool-Aid, but that giant of a man did say something very accurate and insightful.
“Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year – and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.”
I first encountered this quote in 2019 while trying out his podcast during a hike with Doggie Deanie when we lived in Carmel Valley (San Diego). It was poignant at the time, as I had three massive goals that were killing me.
